Some days you just don’t feel like driving anywhere. We all want a break from having to concentrate on the road from time to time, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay put indoors. Anglesey has plenty of exciting days out for you and your family that are car-free, requiring no long drives, allowing you to focus on enjoying the company of your family and friends.

B-Active Rhoscolyn

Only a short 13-minute walk down the road from Silver Bay is B-Active Rhoscolyn. An experienced provider of outdoor activities, B-Active caters to individuals, families and groups looking to spend an active day kayaking, coasteering or enjoying guided walks.

From kayaking within sheltered bays and beaches, to sea kayaking or using your climbing skills to navigate cliffs during coasteering, there are activities to suit everybody, of all skill levels. There is even options to give the activities a more educational feel, for example, you  could explore the local wildlife by kayak and discover the diversity of Anglesey marine and bird life, or even a geology by kayak trip to learn more about the geological heritage of our island.

If you don’t fancy getting wet or want to get a new take on the local area around Silver Bay holiday park, you could take a guided walk allowing you to take in a wide range of local information, history and folklore. Be sure to get in touch beforehand to secure your spot and avoid disappointment!

Days out in Holyhead

This option doesn’t require much planning ahead. A short stroll down to Bryn Mor in around 25 minutes brings you to the bus stop, where you can catch the 23 bus to Holyhead railway station in a little over 10 minutes. There are plenty of things to do to entertain yourself the whole day in Holyhead, from their maritime museum, or you could get in some retail therapy shopping in the surrounding area of the railway station. You could even pop on another bus (the 22) from British Terrace to the stunning South Stack lighthouse in around 15 minutes. This gorgeous location gives a different but just as spectacular view of the sea to our views here at Silver Bay. Grab some tickets at the café before starting the walk down to ensure you get access to the lighthouse, which is situated on its own tiny island connected by a bridge. A wonderful place to observe thousands of breeding seabirds, keen birdwatchers will not want to miss out on such an opportunity.

Explore the UK from Holyhead’s train station

If you’re staying for the summer or a resident of Anglesey, you might want to travel further afield some days.  Anglesey’s proximity to major cities like Bangor, Chester and Manchester provides the perfect location for a day out by train. Holyhead’s train station is accessible by the 23 bus, and provides a direct line to those 3 major cities; ideal for a day spent shopping in their extensive retail areas, and an abundance of other attractions and restaurants to ensure your day is as fun-filled as possible.

Holyhead Golf Club

The golfing enthusiasts amongst us may fancy a more local day out at Holyhead Golf Club. Open to non-member visitors, the club is accessible by the 23 bus from Bryn Mor taking around 35 minutes to reach the Penrhyngeiriol stop and has its own clubhouse serving tasty bar meals. You may want to hire a golf cart or simply enjoy rambling around the course on foot, taking in the views of Snowdonia and the sea from this picturesque course.
