Our Blog

We’re keen bloggers at both of our holiday parks and we love nothing more than giving our luxury lodge owners and friends an insight into life at our holiday resorts on Anglesey. With our bi-weekly blog, we like to update you on key topics that make us and our lodge owners tick. From things to do to the best restaurants to visit (including The Deck House or The Oaklands of course!) you’ll have plenty of reading material to help you plan your next Anglesey break.

We also post about upcoming events on site including everything from beauty events to annual parties, so if you want to keep ahead of the game and make sure you get tickets, keep checking back!

We are a nation of dog lovers, British households are home to over 6.6 million dogs and their companionship and affection can change people’s lives immeasurably for the better. We understand this at Silver Bay and our canine friends have always been welcome to enjoy our wonderful environment. Our residents’ dogs are welcome, just as their owners are, to enjoy their homes at Silver Bay. The park and surrounding area is perfect for pooches, there are 14 beaches in Anglesey that are dog friendly and another 18 where they are very welcome to visit but in a restricted way. That’s 32 dog friendly beaches that will welcome you and provide your dog with a day out to remember!

From your base at Silver Bay you and your dog can enjoy lots of dog friendly activities in Anglesey, here are just a few of our best suggestions:

The Dingle Local Nature Reserve

This beautiful reserve covers 25 acres of wooded valley and rich wildlife. There are three new bridges and a wooden boardwalk that winds along the river Cefni and allows access to the reserve. The woodland is dense, which helps keep you dry if you find yourself visiting on a rainy day. This is an incredibly peaceful place to bring your dog, a tranquil, clean and safe place to escape to, you may well even see a rare red squirrel or two! The Dingle Nature Reserve is within easy reach of Langefni and the very small parking fee goes towards the maintenance of the reserve, a tiny price to pay for a wonderful day out with your dog.

Penrhos Coastal Park

This 200 acre park is an area of outstanding natural beauty located on the A5 between Valley and Holyhead. It is privately owned and has been free to visit for the general public for over 40 years. It forms part of the Anglesey Coastal Path Network and is perfect for enjoying everything that a day out on the Wales coast should offer. You can cycle through the park, take a walk through the woodland or simply spend the day exploring (or lazing about) on the beach. Your dog will love you for it. The flower meadows and bluebell woods are a thing of real beauty and provide a special, extra touch of natural magic when they are in season. Penrhos is a dog owners paradise!

Holyhead Land Train

A slightly alternative idea for a doggy day out, but a suitably entertaining one nonetheless. The Holyhead Land Train travels along the scenic coastal Breakwater Country Park (a disused quarry), you and your dog can hop on the 2pm at Newry Beach in Holyhead and head to Breakwater Park and onwards to the end of the Breakwater – a distance of just under 2 miles and the longest in the UK. You can then hop off and follow the pathways further along the coast, whilst enjoying the seashore and the beautiful views with your dog.

Our dogs enrich our lives in so many ways, and allowing them to share your memories of north wales is a wonderful gift to them. At Silver Bay we welcome our resident’s dogs and understand completely that to many they are considered to be members of their family. Bring them along and let them enjoy Angelsey as much as you will, they’ll soon fall in love with Silver Bay too!
